Heart of Iowa Community Services (HICS) congratulates Pottawattamie County, Central Iowa Community Services, Polk County Behavioral Health and MHDS of East Central Iowa on being named Iowa’s Disability Access Point (DAP) under the state’s new Disability Services System. With news of this award, HICS will begin the process of ensuring all individuals in the 13 counties the organization represents have a smooth transition of their community-based mental health, disability and social services.

The statewide Disability Services System will begin July 1 and is designed to improve access, reduce duplication and ensure person-centered care for Iowans with disabilities.

“We offer our sincere congratulations to the DAP recipients on being awarded the state contract, and we know they will provide excellent services to Iowans in need,” said Darci Alt, HICS CEO. “HICS is committed to working closely with Pottawattamie County and Polk County Behavioral Health to ensure a smooth transition of services on July 1.”

The creation of the DAP is part of Iowa’s initiative to provide more efficient behavioral health and disability services. The realignment of the Disability Services System aims to streamline access, reduce duplication and link funding to measurable outcomes while ensuringindividuals and families can access person-centered services and supports no matter where they live.

HICS was founded on a passion to serve our community, and we are truly grateful to our employees and our partner providers. We have been blessed to touch many lives in our communities, and we are thankful for all of them.

HICS will continue to provide the same high level of care to Iowans in our 13 counties through this transition. We are committed to working with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services to ensure the transition is seamless.
