With the statistics that 1 in 4 people have mental illness and 1 in 6 people experience a common mental health problem each week, the effort to increase awareness of mental health and reduce stigma is ever important. There are many myths surrounding illness which is mental rather than physical, and these myths are often fueled by a lack of knowledge and understanding of this type of ill health.

It’s difficult to find much good in today’s world. Especially now we see a lot of people hurting and the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. Coping with stress will make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger.

This weekly series is for anyone working with children – parents, service providers, community partners, law enforcement, school personnel, youth advocates, youth centers, legislatures, and social workers.  This series of speakers is to bring awareness to real issues surrounding families through these trying times. Taking care of yourself, your friends, and your family can help you cope with stress. Helping others cope with their stress can also make your community stronger.

The centerpiece of the program is a virtual workshop 6-week speaker’s series for 1-hour featuring some of the top motivational speakers including Q&A. The kickoff program is at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 – Wednesday, June 10.

You will see each speaker and registration information below. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR EACH WEEK AND IS LIMITED TO 100 SPOTS.  I will send out the Zoom link to those that registered on Monday of each week before the event on Wednesday.
