988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
If you or someone you know is in crisis or simply doesn’t know how to move forward, call or text 988.
When you contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, you’ll be connected with a crisis counselor who can assist you, whether you’re experiencing emotional distress or suicidal crisis, or whether you need guidance in helping a loved one through a crisis.
Heart of Iowa Community Services can help whether an individual is having suicidal thoughts, a caregiver urgently needs help with a child struggling with mental health issues or a person wants immediate help with substance use problems or gambling addiction.
No matter the need, we can guide you through the process. Funding is our concern, not yours.
Mobile crisis services
Trained mobile crisis providers are best equipped to de-escalate mental health issues so individuals may be able to avoid being treated in a hospital in the future. Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy will send a team of trained mental health experts to your home, office or school in an unmarked car to provide whatever services are needed in a familiar environment. To receive mobile crisis services call 844-428-3878.
Crisis stabilization
Crisis stabilization prevents those with complex mental health issues from being involuntarily or inappropriately incarcerated. HICS connects people in crisis to a provider who allows them to stay in a safe space for three to five days. During this time, professionals identify a network of appropriate community resources to assist in long-term recovery.
Don’t hesitate to call the Your Life Iowa Crisis Line at 855-581-8111 or text 855-895-8398. Crisis services are confidential, and funding is available, if necessary.
